Workspace Microphone check Private by design

BEFORE YOU SAY “CAN YOU HEAR ME?”

Make yourself heard.

Get to know your microphone. Check the levels, try your voice, and listen back.

Your live input

Start when you’re ready. Your microphone is off.

MICROPHONE OFF

A sound check, on your terms.

Microphone access starts with your click. Recording is a separate choice.

Ready when you are

Start the microphone, then speak naturally to see its digital input level.

2048-sample analyzer snapshots, about 20 times/sec. Windows may overlap or miss peaks. dBFS is digital level relative to full scale; it is not sound pressure (dB SPL).

TWO MOMENTS. A LITTLE PERSPECTIVE.

Compare quiet with speech.

Same microphone and settings. Different conditions.

GUIDED CHECK
01

Let the room speak.

Stay quiet for 5 seconds to capture a baseline of this scene.

Not measured yet
02

Now, say a little hello.

Speak naturally for 5 seconds at your usual microphone distance.

Baseline comes first

Scene-dependent comparison, not hardware SNR or an intrinsic noise floor. Browser/OS gain, noise suppression, room sound, and distance can all change these values. These steps measure levels without saving an audio recording.

THE MOST USEFUL CHECK IS A LISTEN.

Record a little, hear it back.

One local sample · 30 seconds maximum · 10 MB guardrail

A quick hello is enough.

Start your microphone, then choose Record sample. No recording starts automatically.

MediaRecorder is unavailable. Live measurements remain usable.

Starting a new check replaces the current sample. Hiding or leaving this page stops capture. Nothing is recorded in the background.

Compare quiet-room and speech conditions

Keep this page visible and measure five seconds of quiet, then explicitly start a five-second speech sample. Both use the same active device and settings. The difference is a scene-dependent digital RMS comparison. Gain control, noise suppression, room sound, and distance affect it. It is not intrinsic microphone noise, calibrated loudness, or a universal hardware SNR score.

Recording is limited to one local sample of up to 30 seconds and 10 MB. The download extension follows the browser’s actual recording container. The live microphone is never connected to speakers. Hiding, leaving, stopping, or clearing the tool ends capture. Browser/device compatibility needs real-device checks; synthetic automation alone cannot establish microphone quality.
